In the creation of this work, photographic negatives were buried and hidden in various landscapes to age and decay over the course of two months. This process allows chance and time to play a large part in the work. The final, composite image relates heavily to time, as the structure signifies a musical score. The patterns and layers become notes and different parts of a composition. Each layer is a record of time and decay. When pieced together, they act similarly to the layers of sedimentary rock, each holding a history.
