Archival Pigment Print

45 x 22 inches

This work, a series of four diptych portraits, are painterly representations of people through the combination of two instances. These diptychs allow for a more thorough depiction of a person; they involve both a focus on the face and spirit of their character, as well the more textural and formal details of the skin and movement of the body. The portraits also offer a sort of narrative, through the visual cues, such as the matching turquoise rings, as well as the gazes which connect across the four works. The title, Familiar, implies the varying levels of physical and emotional closeness to the subjects.
